Unraveling Extended Guitar

Location:
Mannes School of Music’s Stiefel Concert Hall at Arnhold Hall
55 West 13th Street, New York, NY 10011

The New York City Classical Guitar Society and Mannes School of Music/Performing Arts at The New School present the first North American screening of the new documentary film Unraveling Extended Guitar  (Desvendando O Violão Expandido) with Mário da Silva, distinguished guitarist/composer/innovator/teacher.

Directed by acclaimed Brazilian documentarian Anaí Bagnolin, the film centers on three mainstream Brazilian composers who use extended technique in their works: Edino Krieger, Arthur Kampela, and Chico Mello. The film is an extension of a doctoral dissertation that explores these composers’ aesthetic. The event will include screening of the film, plus demonstrations by Mário da Silva and discussion with the audience.

Admission is free to the public, no tickets required.

All audience members must provide upon entering the building proof of up-to-date Covid-19 vaccination, including a booster (when eligible), either through the CLEAR Health Pass system, the New School Student Health Services portal, or other documentation.  All audience members must wear a mask in the concert hall.
